The Story of Christmas Stockings

Legend has it that the tradition of hanging Christmas stockings by the fireplace began with two poor sisters.

Both wanted to marry but their father was too poor to pay their wedding dowries.
Christmas Eve, the sisters hung their stockings by the fire to dry.
Saint Nicholas intervened, tossing gold coins down the chimney and into the stockings. On Christmas Day, the sisters were delighted to discover the money—enough for both dowries.

Victorian children sometimes hung Christmas stockings on their bedposts. Parents then had a recipe for stocking gift giving that still works today:

“Something to eat,
Something to read,
Something to play with,
and Something they need.

Hi everybody!

Do not forget that our Comenius European Teachers are coming soon to our school. They will be visiting us on the 31st October and 3rd November.

A meeting will be held on the 31st October , at 14h30m, at the Library, if you want to take part, do show up - you are all welcome!

If you want any of the foreign teachers to go to one of your classes on Monday afternoon, do get in touch and say something - we will get through that quite easily, no problem!

Olá colegas,
Para inserir imagens na mensagem devem fazer o seguinte:

- procurar imagens na net ( fazer copy and paste) e colocar a pic no nosso computador
- abrir o blog do departamento com a password
- clicar em "editar mensagem" no PAINEL
- clicar em cima do icon azul ao lado do rec ( na barra de ferramentas )
- fazer "browse/procurar" e procurar a nossa imagem já seleccionada
- transportar a imagem para o corpo da mensagem
- escrever a mensagem ( texto) e publicar a mensagem

E já está! Bom trabalho!
